Carolyn Rainwater, BA
Christian Counseling Mentor
Carolyn has an Associate Degree in Science from Colby Community College in Kansas where she studied Addiction Counseling and was a graduate of the Valley Hope Counselor Training program, becoming an AAPS Certified Addiction Professional and later, a Licensed Addiction Counselor in the State of Kansas. Carolyn earned her Bachelors Degree in Human Relations and Management from Mid America Nazarene University in Kansas and is a current Graduate student at Liberty University where she is studying Professional Counseling with an emphasis in crisis, trauma, and addiction.
Transformation through Christ is a continuing journey that Carolyn longs to share to help others move through painful challenges. As an addiction specialist, Carolyn has experience in individual, group, family counseling, and education, with a solid success rate in clients maintaining their sobriety from alcohol or drugs. As a previous adolescent drug court counselor, Carolyn supports the value of coordinating care with a community approach towards all stakeholders. In working with drug and alcohol patients, the realization that many suffered with core trauma problems led Her to pursue a Master's degree towards becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor to better address the larger scope of problems that often occur with substance abuse. As a previous foster parent and case manager for children in foster care, the family therapy needs became highlighted to her as a heart burden to see families restored as trauma and loss concerns are addressed. Trauma survivors such as those with a PTSD diagnosis or those facing deep loss or grief are also welcomed. Carolyn appreciates cognitive approaches in counseling because they are easily integrated into a Christian worldview in which the Bible is the foundation. Close to her heart are those who cry out for answers to life's hardest questions, such as , "Why me, God?" Carolyn's hope is that you will take a courageous first step into a healing journey with a Christian spiritual framework, knowing it is a privilege and honor to walk alongside you to reach your goals.
